Hello, I’m so happy that you’re here!
My Approach
I believe that ultimately the success of therapy depends on an understanding and genuine connection between client(s) and therapist. By creating a compassionate space, I hope to help people learn to trust themselves in this healing process. I believe that all of us have the answers we need inside us, and with guidance we can learn to listen for them. IFS is an invaluable map to learn to listen to this inner voice (or in IFS terms, these inner voices)!
I enjoy working with children and adults, families, couples and groups to offer support and motivation for change. My passion is helping people work through traumas and explore ways to find relief from anxiety, depression, ADHD, and other emotional and psychological concerns. I like to use a variety of approaches to explore the inner worlds within all of us, sometimes combining other modalities with IFS, such as EMDR. I have been deeply impacted by Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Non-Violent Communication and Mindfulness approaches as well.
My Journey
I earned my Masters degree in school counseling with the plan to become a part of a caring community helping people learn.
Through the six years I spent in school systems, I learned that my goals and values were not aligned with the school systems. I realized that my passion was in working with individuals, couples, families, and groups, focusing on increasing compassion and healing relationships. This realization inspired me to earn my Masters degree in Social Work, after which I worked in agencies and nonprofits for seven years. I felt honored to work with families and support them through all kinds of mental health challenges.
After supervising other therapists and managing programs for several years, I still felt that something was missing. In 2020, when the world stopped because of COVID, the thing that I was missing seemed to fall into place. I was given an opportunity to start working in a small group practice, and began to embark on my current journey to help people struggling with trauma.
About Me
I am a very lucky and blessed husband and father. We also have a golden retriever named Nala (who is very spoiled). When I am not working, I love to be with my family, rock out on my piano, paint, or be outside in nature.
I also really love my job, and have a lot of excitement and passion for it. While exploring how to help people through trauma, my wife encouraged me to take an EMDR class. This opened up a whole new world for me.
Then, I came across IFS, and this opened up an even deeper realm of understanding. This model has changed my life in many ways, and has helped me understand my inner world and my relationship with the outer world in a way that I never realized was possible. It even opened me to understanding how spiritual consciousness could be explored in therapy (when clients wanted this).
If you feel that we would be a good match for therapy, it would be a pleasure to connect and explore some of the ways that I might be able to support you, and take part in your healing journey. I hope we are able to connect and journey together on your healing path.
