Internal Family Systems counseling in Massachusetts curated for you.

The Commonwealth of Massachusetts has resources as distinguished as its name; from the beautiful Berkshires, the beaches at Martha’s Vineyard and Cape Cod, and historical richness of Cambridge and Boston — there is something for every part of you in this heart of New England. Internal Family Systems is at home here, too, with its originator Richard Schwartz based in Boston and on staff at Harvard Medical School.

IFS-TC provides individual adults throughout Massachusetts with exceptional IFS therapy.

Why IFS Therapy?

Internal Family Systems recognizes that while every part of us is valuable and may have positive intentions, some take over and disrupt our lives. With IFS, your therapist will help you listen to inner battles without getting entangled in them.

In Massachusetts and across the globe, the Internal Family Systems Model is enjoying widespread popularity for its transformational power in psychotherapy and beyond – most recently in the fields of business, education, mediation, and other helping professions.

We know the challenges to beginning therapy — finding someone with the experience that you think will help AND getting them to call you back.

We’ve streamlined the process, making it easy for you to begin right now.

With IFS Telehealth Collective, finding the right fit with a counselor is just the beginning.

Our concierge telehealth services offer personalized placement with a therapist and ongoing clinical support so that your therapist has the best IFS tools and training at their disposal.

Our Internal Family Systems therapists can help you uncover and resolve roadblocks with sensitivity and skill to support your inner system’s natural sense of flow.  You’ll learn to release the old messages and experiences that have kept you from celebrating every part of yourself and embracing greater meaning in your life.

By learning to listen deeply to the many different parts inside, revealing the healing power of an inherently wise and caring Self at our core, IFS clients come to love and trust themselves more while seeing the world through a more compassionate lens.

We offer extended-length IFS therapy sessions to give you more time to explore your inner world and to integrate the process without feeling rushed.

IFS for Trauma is one of our specialties offered throughout Massachusetts.

Whether it’s big “T” trauma like an accident, assault, physical or sexual abuse, war, natural disasters, or another threatening event — or the traumatic impacts of oppression and marginalization — or small “t” traumas caused by more common painful events like rejection, attachment wounds, grief, and loss, the IFS model safely and effectively helps you access resources to heal the distressing emotions and beliefs from those events.

IFS for Self-Esteem is available to “Bay Staters.”

It’s time to clear up the lies taken in as truths and discover the gifts that are uniquely you. With the IFS process, you’ll learn to release the old messages and experiences that have kept you from celebrating every part of yourself and embracing greater meaning in your life. The love that you so desperately crave is within you.

IFS for Therapists is also offered throughout “The Codfish State.”

If you’ve been studying IFS and are having trouble going deeper, or if you need support while going through IFS training, we’re here to help you find your way. All of our clinicians are fully trained in the model, receive on-going expert consultation,  and have direct experience with understanding how “therapist parts” can help or hinder the healing process.

Is online therapy effective?

According to the National Center for Health Research (NCHR), online therapy can be just as effective as in-person therapy for depression and anxiety, and for other therapeutic issues. Secure platforms for online therapy are well-established, and for most people and circumstances telehealth works incredibly well. It is also subjective.  IFS therapy in particular translates very well to the online format, and for some people’s parts IFS telehealth is even more comfortable than meeting in person.

The convenience of therapy from your couch, office, or any room where there is privacy, is one of the benefits of online therapy in the setting of your choice. According to one study on the efficacy of online therapy, attending therapy sessions remotely from one’s home has not only proven to be clinically effective, but clients feel more comfortable talking through their computer, phone, or tablet rather than in person. Plus, with online therapy, there is no need to consider travel time. Just schedule the best time for you and your therapist, and that’s it. When it’s time to meet, your therapist will connect with you on a secure, accessible platform. It’s easy to settle in and let the healing begin.
