Friends of the Collective Spotlight: Sarah Houy, MA, LPC, RYT and Sentur Health

Allow us to introduce our esteemed friend, Sarah Houy, MA, LPC, RYT, one of the innovative minds behind Sentur Health. Sarah embarked on her journey with Internal Family Systems (IFS) nearly a decade ago, and as both a trauma survivor and therapist, she holds a deep understanding of healing and personal transformation

The Sentur app, born from her passion to aid others in their healing, serves as a vital resource, offering powerful IFS tools and support. Sarah’s dedication to empowering individuals on their paths to healing is invaluable. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Sarah for graciously sharing her impactful work with our community and for being a cherished friend of the IFS Telehealth Collective!

Tell us briefly about yourself and how you discovered the IFS model.

I am a trauma survivor, wife, mother, dog mom and lover of everything outdoors and adventure.  I was introduced to the IFS model by my the therapist who insisted that I would love the model.  That was about 10 years ago.

Please describe your work as an IFS therapist and how long you have been working with the Model.

I did my Level 1 training in 2015, my Level 2 in 2016 and did the Deep Healing of Exiles retreat in 2018.  I have presented at the 2018 IFS conference, and was a keynote presenter at the 2019 conference.

Is there something in particular about working with IFS that excites you?

It is the most wide-reaching model for improving life satisfaction and treating trauma on the planet. I also love the non-pathologizing model of understanding ourselves as human.

Tell us about the IFS-inspired resource you’ve created that is featured on Friends of the Collective?

I am the co-founder of Sentur.health which is a digital platform for trauma care that integrates IFS as a foundational model for healing.

What inspired you to create your products/services?

As a trauma survivor and trauma therapist, I have a deep awareness of how frustrating, fragmented, and fatiguing the self-transformation journey is or can be.  And yet, I am continually inspired by the work that happens in the clinical hour using IFS as a framework.  But the 99.5% of time outside the clinical hour it seemed like there was a vast abyss to cross which didn’t.

Who would benefit most from your IFS resources and how can people access your product/service?

Sentur's IFS resources are beautifully designed for individuals actively pursuing self-transformation and healing from trauma. These tools are particularly beneficial for clients of mental health professionals seeking an accessible, engaging, and effective adjunct to amplify traditional therapy. Our digital platform perfectly complements your therapeutic work, offering a space for clients to deepen their self-understanding and healing journey. Accessing our resources is effortless. Clients can find us on the Apple App or the Google Play store, sign up, and immediately start exploring various IFS meditations, exercises, and experiences, all from the comfort of their homes or on the go.

Please describe any future plans or next steps for your service/product that you would like to share.

As Sentur looks toward the future, we are excited about expanding collaborations with treatment facilities in the United States. Our vision includes providing our comprehensive digital platform to these organizations and offering tailored programming designed to enhance their therapeutic services. This expansion will enable us to equip therapists and mental health professionals with powerful tools and resources, enhancing their ability to facilitate deep, lasting healing and transformation in their clients. We're dedicated to partnering with treatment facilities to integrate our cutting-edge psychotherapeutic techniques and technology, thereby elevating the standard of care in mental health treatment. This strategic move marks a significant step in our mission to revolutionize mental health care by making high-quality, innovative therapeutic tools more accessible to a broader range of practitioners and their clients.

We’d love to hear a success story or positive feedback you’ve received from someone who has experienced your IFS resource.

Here is our most recent testimonial:

I’ve just started working with IFS in therapy, but had a breakthrough experience on my own that left me eager to do more between sessions. After hearing an interview with this app’s creator on an IFS podcast, I downloaded and signed up for the trial. It only took a few minutes with the app to see it’s value, so I subscribed right then. Considering an hour of therapy is $200, this is an amazing deal! The app provides a clear structured interface to learn about and set up a personal IFS model and daily practice. I haven’t explored all that’s offered yet, but the resources available and the sequenced steps already answered a lot of the questions I had after my sessions. The app is beautiful and really easy to work with on both the phone and iPad. I can see it will be my go-to resource and “operating system” for doing the work, freeing up therapy time for the deeper dives. I think reading “No Bad Parts” and using this app could help a lot of people without access to therapy as well. Thanks for a really well-designed tool that makes this life-changing therapy more accessible and manageable!

What is your favorite IFS aligned quote, poem, song, book, TV show or movie?

“Don't turn away. Keep your gaze on the bandaged place. That's where the light enters you.”

― Rumi
